The Blue Suit

Certified organic denim, tailored in Italy.

The Blue Suit is a certified sustainable denim label, made in a Northern Italian atelier. It began with one idea: beautiful clothes do not need toxic shortcuts. Everything since has been built to prove it.

We make tailored denim for women who want to know what their clothes are made of. The materials hold Cradle to Cradle Certified® Gold, the finished garments hold Bronze, and we name the two separately because the certificate does. Organic fibres carry GOTS; every other material enters the collection with OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100 as its base. The whole chain can be checked on Retraced, open to anyone who asks.

One glass of water

The production shows the same discipline. One glass of water rinses a pair of jeans. A laser burns decorative prints into the denim with light. Two pairs of hands make each garment, first cut to last button, given the time the work needs.

Ready to scale

The system is complete, current and audited: certified materials, a documented chain, and an atelier that already works the way the new EU rules require. The signature tailoring stays in Italy, where the Cradle to Cradle collection sets the benchmark. The method and the standards behind it are built to travel, so the same principles can extend to a broader range and to skilled production partners in other countries under recognised certification. The Blue Suit Authority carries all of it forward, ready to scale.

Founder & Creative Director

As Founder and Creative Director, Yvonne leads every design decision and every manufacturing partnership at The Blue Suit. She studied at the Vogue Academy in Amsterdam and left for Milan and Fiorucci at the height of its influence, then worked at Guess, Kenzo and Benetton and across the production floors of Europe, the Middle East and the Far East. That is where she saw the human and environmental cost up close: workers handling toxic dyes with bare hands, waste treated as normal, damage the factories themselves did not recognise. She returned to Italy to work on her own terms, with her own label made end to end in the country whose craft she trusts, and went on to build a Cradle to Cradle Certified® denim collection to one of the most demanding standards in fashion. She works only with family-run ateliers who hold her line on quality and clean production.

Brand & Content Director

As Brand & Content Director, Swan builds The Blue Suit's identity, its voice and its story, and keeps all three anchored to facts and certificates. She came to it from art direction, shaping the look of Vogue, Quote and the Netherlands' leading interior and lifestyle titles with part of that career in the United States. She turns complex ideas into clear, confident images and words. She and Yvonne met as students at the Vogue Academy in Amsterdam and found their way back to the same table years later.
