Every jacket has a production history. The fabric involves a cotton farmer, a spinner, a weaver and a dyer. Then a printer, a button maker and a label maker add their contributions, and finally an atelier cuts and sews the garment. To finish, a laundry gives the garment its final texture. Together, these people and processes form a supply chain, and every step leaves a mark on the garment you wear.
Who checks each step?
A brand can describe its own supply chain. In the case of a certified supply chain, an independent assessor requests test results, formulas and documentation. The assessor checks each result against a published standard. A claim is only valid if the assessor confirms it.
We opted for Cradle to Cradle Certified® for The Blue Suit, a standard that examines a garment right down to the chemical composition of the dye.
Our materials have Gold certification and our finished garments have Bronze certification. Two independent ateliers in Northern Italy assemble the collection: one specialises in woven garments, the other in knitted garments. A laundry and a printing facility hold certification for our production.
Any material in the collection without Cradle to Cradle certification carries GOTS or OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100 as its baseline. Retraced, a traceability platform for fashion, tracks the process from fibre to finished garment.
But what does this mean for the person wearing the jacket?
It reveals the true value of a label's claims. For you, it means that the certificates on our label rest on documents an independent assessor has checked. Since 27 September 2026, European regulations require fashion brands to support their green claims with independent evidence, and terms such as 'eco' or 'green' now need documentation behind them. For our supply chain, which we have built step by step, these documents already exist.
Our Journal follows every step of the process, from the yarn and the fabric to the buttons, the water and the atelier. Each step is documented. Together, they show how a garment earns its label.
